The Mill & Engine House For nearly 600 years the Mill and Engine House was powered by the River Avon. A century ago the 'hydro' power was harnessed by the Castle itself for its own electrical needs.

The River & Island Sroll down from the mill and over the bridge across the Avon and go onto the island. In the 1890s, the islands residents included japanese deer, chinese geese, an emu and a baby elephant.
