There are such a wide choice of Houses and Palaces available to visit every weekend around the country, many with fascinating historical links. Visit Blenheim Palace home of the 11th Duke of Marlborough and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, arguably one of the largest and finest private houses in the country or Broadlands Home of the late Lord Mountbatten.
For homes with more contemporary history Althorp in Northamptonshire has been the home of the Spencer family since 1508 and now houses a memorial to Lady Diana Spencer, The Princess of Wales following her untimely death. Whilst Castle Howard in Yorkshire was most recently made famous in the TV drama Brideshead Revisited. Other notable and recently used TV & Film locations include Belvoir Castle – Leicestershire Haddon Hall – Bakewell, Chatsworth – Derbyshire and Newby Hall - Yorkshire.
Spending your weekend outside strolling around one of the stunning gardens open to the public and many of which are open every weekend throughout the year, is a great way to enjoy some fresh air and exercise.
