Heligan, one of the most mysterious estates in England. At the end of the nineteenth century its 1000 acres were at their zenith, but only a few years after the Great War of 1914 bramble and ivy were already drawing a green veil over this sleeping beauty. Today, following decades of neglect and the much celebrated restoration project, the nation's favourite garden offers 200 glorious acres of exploration, which include extensive productive gardens and pleasure grounds, sustainably-managed farmland, wetlands and ancient woodlands, and a pioneering wildlife conservation project.
