The largest man-made lake in western Europe, covering 3100 acres with 25 miles of shoreline, landscaped picnic sites, refreshments, adventure playgrounds, an information centre, trout fishing, day sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, cycle hire and climbing centre. There is also the Barnsdale drought garden and arboretum, the free-flight butterfly house with exotic plants and koi carp includes a 'twilight zone' and aquaria with species of freshwater fish. A nature reserve with 2 visitor centres, and a passenger cruiser with a lift for wheelchair users.
