Bolton Abbey Estate, a 30,000-acre traditional country estate at the centre of which is Bolton Priory, a 12thC Augustinian priory in a parkland setting beside the River Wharfe. Near the priory is the picturesque village of Bolton Abbey with its estate gift shop and food shop, tearooms and tithe barn. The Strid Wood nature trails and moorland access areas lie just north of the village. There is riverside parking and picnic areas with ample space for children to play. Some 80 miles of footpaths are available to walkers in this picturesque valley.
